You know what search engine optimization, or SEO, is.
You know that without it, your website is never going to be seen on the first page of organic search engine rankings.
But do you know how to run an SEO campaign?
Maybe not.
This article is for you and we’re going to give you some great tips that can help improve your website’s rank.
SEO Campaign and Your Time
Here’s the bad news: Your website isn’t going to go from zero to hero overnight. That’s just not how Google does things.
They’re going to check you out. They’ll keep an eye on your traffic. Slowly, but surely, they’ll move you up.
Running a proper campaign is a process and while your overall goal is, of course, going to be sales, patience is going to be an asset here and you need to understand that time is your friend.
It’s not just about the traffic. It’s about what the traffic turns into. More traffic means more visibility which means more leads which will turn into more sales.
If you don’t have the time to sink into running a proper SEO campaign or it needs to be done quickly and efficiently, consider leaving it up to a professional.
Mobile Friendly
We’ve moved into an age where the majority of people who read content online are doing so from a mobile device.
This is now a large factor in Google’s algorithm, so make sure that your website is mobile friendly.
That means more than just using a mobile friendly WordPress theme.
Leave the walls of text for your journal at home. To be mobile friendly, break those paragraphs up. Utilize bullets and numbers to help make your content easier to scan.
Check your website on various mobile devices frequently to make sure that it’s looking the way that it’s supposed to. Keep in mind that if your website has a sidebar, this information is going to show up below your content.
Content Length
There’s always an argument about content length and how it will affect an SEO campaign.
Most experts claim that long-form content is the way to go. By long form, I’m talking about content that is in excess of two thousand words.
These experts do have a point. Google and other search engines want to see that your website contains valuable information and more often than not, the longer the content, the more value it’s going to have.
However, the average attention span of folks scanning the web for articles isn’t great. The average reader will bounce off your site if it takes more than three seconds to load.
So mix it up. Your website should, first and foremost, contain nothing but amazing content.
Ideally, it should have long-form, short-form, and video. This way, you have something for everyone. While the term “video content” might seem odd when mixed in with long-form and short-form written content, let’s not forget a couple of things:
- People use Youtube as a search engine, because that’s exactly what it is.
- Guess who owns Youtube. Did you guess Google? Because that’s the right answer. If you can make Google and Youtube think highly of your content, you’ll be pretty much set for life.
Sounds like a lot to think about, right? It may be simple, but doing it right is definitely not easy. If you’re a beginner or in over your head with your SEO campaign, contact us to see how we can help.
